Joe Rogan Refuses Kamala Harris’ Conditions for Podcast Interview

Joe Rogan said he’s still in talks to set up an interview with Kamala Harris, but that he won’t agree to the terms suggested by her campaign.
“Also, for the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast. They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin,” Rogan said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen,” he said.
Newsweek reached out to the Harris campaign for comment via email outside of regular working hours.
The discussions come after Donald Trump sat for a three-hour-long interview for The Joe Rogan Experience at the podcaster’s studio in Austin on Friday. The highly anticipated interview was widely watched, generating 36 million views on YouTube at the time of writing, and it was largely well-received by swing voters, according to analysis conducted for Newsweek.
The former president took a break from the campaign trail to travel for the interview, which resulted in him being hours late to his own rally in Traverse City, Michigan.
Trump’s supporters on social media widely praised his stamina and work ethic for traveling for the interview in between campaign stops.
During the interview, Trump and Rogan spoke about the possibility of Harris being on the podcast.
“She was supposed to do it and she might still do it. I hope she does,” Rogan said.
Trump took aim at Harris, saying: “I hope she does because it would be a mess. She’d be laying on the floor comatose. She’d be saying: ‘Call in the medics.'”
“I will talk to her like a human being. I would try to have a conversation with her,” Rogan said. “I think we’d have a fine conversation. I think I’d be able to talk to her. I wouldn’t try to interview her. I’d just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a human being. That was my goal. Having her on, trying to get her to express herself…”
The Republican nominee’s decision to make time for Rogan demonstrates the power of comedian and UFC commentator turned leading podcaster.
Rogan’s podcast is the most popular on Spotify, where he has more than 14 million followers. His channel on YouTube has nearly 18 million followers, and his videos regularly draw millions of views.
His audience is largely young and male, a demographic that Trump is popular with and Harris seeks to court.
